LOUISE’S LOVE LETTER

EDITION 15:

What I’m No Longer Over-Explaining This Year

Clarity is calmer than convincing. Let’s talk about that.

One thing I’m officially leaving behind this year?
Explaining myself like I’m on trial.

Hey, Friend

Quick check-in before the weekend:

Have you noticed how much energy it takes to explain yourself into a sense of comfort?

Explaining why you need consistency.
Explaining why something didn’t sit right.
Explaining why “fine” isn’t actually fine.
(Explaining, explaining, explaining… you get tired just reading that.)

This week, I caught myself thinking, I don’t want to carry this habit into another year.

And judging by your recent messages, I’m not alone.

✨ This Week on the Blog - What I’m No Longer Over-Explaining This Year.

This post isn’t about being rigid, dramatic, or “hard to deal with.”
It’s about clarity — the kind that doesn’t require footnotes, follow-ups, or emotional disclaimers.

We’re talking about:

  • Why over-explaining is often anxiety in a polite outfit,

  • how clarity doesn’t need a backstory,

  • and why the right people don’t need convincing.

If you’ve ever talked yourself into exhaustion to feel understood, this one will feel familiar.

A QUICK, FRIENDLY TEASER

If something needs a paragraph to justify it, it likely wasn’t a debate to begin with.

Sometimes that realization feels like relief.
Sometimes it feels like, “Oh, I can stop now.”

🪩MINI QUIZ — OVER-EXPLAINING EDITION

Be honest (no one is grading this):

1. When you set a boundary, you usually:
A) Provide context, examples, and reassurance.
B) Say it, then immediately soften it.
C) Say it clearly and pause.
D) Say it once and move on.

2. If someone pushes back, you tend to:
A) Re-explain (but nicer).
B) Compromise quickly.
C) Notice the reaction.
D) Adjust access.

3. This sentence feels most true right now:
A) “I just want them to understand.”
B) “I don’t want conflict.”
C) “Clarity should feel calmer than this.”
D) “I’m done negotiating peace.”

Mostly C or D?
Welcome to your quieter, clearer era. We like it here.

✨ THE WELL MOMENT

Wisdom: Clarity doesn’t require consensus.

Empathy: If you learned to over-explain to keep the peace, that makes sense.

Laughter: If you’ve ever rehearsed a conversation in your head to justify a feeling you already knew was valid… congratulations, you’re human.

Lesson: The right people don’t need extra words. They listen the first time.

🪶FROM THE AUTHOR’S DESK

A little behind-the-scenes moment before we wrap up.

In two weeks, Stop Dating the Wrong Letters will officially be released in hardcover — and I’m quietly excited about it.

There’s something about holding a book in your hands that feels grounding, intentional, and permanent… kind of like clarity itself.

I’ll share more soon, but for now, know that it’s a coming attraction.

💜PASS IT ON

If this newsletter made you nod, exhale, or laugh a little at yourself,
share it with a friend who’s also learning to choose calm over convincing.

Sometimes hearing “you’re not wrong” is all someone needs.

Closing Thought
This year isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about becoming clearer — and letting that be enough.

Here’s to fewer explanations, stronger boundaries,
and relationships that don’t require persuasion.

With love and clarity💜
