LOUISE’S LOVE LETTER

EDITION 23:

Why Do We Miss People Who Weren’t Good for Us? 💜

Today’s observation:
The heart is sentimental, and the memory… occasionally edits the story.

Hey, Friend

Have you ever noticed how someone can seem so clear in hindsight… and yet you still find yourself missing them?

You remember the laughter.
The chemistry.
The moments that almost felt magical.

Your brain politely forgets:

  • the mixed signals

  • the emotional confusion

  • the conversations that kept you awake, staring at the ceiling at 1 a.m.

It’s funny how memory works like that.

Sometimes nostalgia benefits from excellent PR.

Why We Miss People Who Weren’t Actually Good For Us

This week’s post explores one of the most confusing relationship experiences: missing someone you already knew wasn’t right for you.

Inside the post, we talk about:

  • why memory edits relationships in hindsight,

  • the difference between chemistry and compatibility,

  • and why missing someone doesn’t always mean you should go back.

Sometimes the person we miss the most is also the one who confuses us the most.

If you’ve ever caught yourself thinking,
"Wait… why do I miss them again?" This will feel very familiar.

A LITTLE LOUISE LOGIC💜

Missing someone doesn’t always mean they were your person.

Sometimes it just means your heart remembers things too optimistically.

And nostalgia?

It has a funny habit of editing out the stressful parts of a relationship.

MINI QUIZ — NOSTALGIA OR ACTUAL COMPATIBILITY?

No overthinking. Just notice.

1. When you think about them, you mostly remember:
A) The connection
B) The fun moments
C) The potential
D) The good parts — and you conveniently forget the stress

2. If the relationship returned exactly as it was, you would feel:
A) Excited
B) Curious
C) Unsure
D) Slightly exhausted just thinking about it

3. The relationship mainly felt:
A) Stable
B) Warm
C) Intense
D) Confusing

Mostly C or D?
You may be missing the highlights… not the whole story.

THE WELL MOMENT 💜

Wisdom:
Chemistry can be real… and the relationship can still be wrong.

Empathy:
Of course, you miss them. Your heart remembers the good moments — even when your mind remembers the lessons.

Laughter:
If nostalgia ever made you think someone was “not that bad”… you’re in good company.

Lesson:
Missing someone doesn’t mean you should rekindle the relationship. Sometimes it just means the chapter mattered.

💜PASS IT ON

If this newsletter made you laugh, nod, or rethink an old memory, share it with a friend who might also see that nostalgia sometimes spins a very flattering story.

Clarity increases when we compare notes.

Closing Thought

You can miss someone
and still know the relationship wasn’t right.

Both things can exist at the same time.

And that realization?

That’s growth.

The important part is remembering why you chose clarity in the first place.
